The iconic apple for the teacher might be a tad outdated. But it would have been a nicer end-of-the-year gift than the gift one South Florida teacher received this week. The teacher was given a loaded .22-caliber handgun according to officials at a South Florida elementary school.
The alleged gift-giving incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, when the grandmother of an 8-year-old student met with her granddaughter�??s teacher in the parking lot of Allamanda Elementary School in Palm Beach County.
The granny allegedly gave the teacher a package that was meant to be an end-of-year-gift from her granddaughter. The teacher did not open the package until she got home later that day, at which time, school officials say, she found assorted toiletries and a loaded .22-caliber handgun.
