Make a 'Rice Lid' with Stews in Your Lunch Jar to Improve Heat Retention, Avoid Spills [Lunch]


Thermal lunch jars are great; I have one, but on occasion I'll need to take a stew or curry to my weekday job for lunch when the thermal jar is dirty and I'll have to resort to standard glass or plastic lunch containers. Bento weblog Lunch in a Box recommends loading cooked rice over the stew or curry to make a "rice lid" that keeps food warm and helps reduce the possibility of spills since the liquid has to get through both the rice and the lid.
