Socks are the least donated pieces of clothing, and they're one of the most requested items, according to 21-year-old Emily DeScalo, who is on a mission to help provide one million socks to struggling Americans.
DeScalo is one of eight film students working for No Nonsense Clothing, which has teamed with Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) in an effort to travel the country to give new socks to people in 36 cities in 16 states.
"There are so many unemployed and children living below the poverty line right now," DeScalo said. "Many need socks for sanitary reasons, but it also just gives you a fresh feeling to put on new socks every day."
